Support Info:
Official XP support for Personal Computer users ended in April 2014, though XP Embedded / PosReady lived on until 2019 (it is NOW a legacy OS) The last official DirectX was 9.0C but you can get a version 10 that's not official. Windows XP is compatible with Office 2000, 2003, 2007, Internet Explorer 6.0, 6SP1, 7.0 and 8.0, Windows Media Player 8, 9, 10 & 11 along with Microsoft . NET 1.0 up to 4.0, though unofficially 4.5.2 is floating about. Winrar 5.53 works with XP along with VLC Media Player 2.2.4 and Firefox 50.1.0. We have an old compatible iTunes for windows XP here, anything random you can't find.. You can download more OLD software from oldversion.com or oldversion.net. For Our downloads, scroll down to under the Solutions & Guides to see the Downloads section.

We are adding these as a lot of microsoft pages now refuse access to IE 8.0
Also at some stage the Active X Control Certificate for Windows Update and also Microsoft Update will at some stage expire blocking access to the windows update control in the IE browser.
The XP Updates pack (that was on this page) contained ALL the LEGAL MS EXE files inc the exFat update, the Embedded Flash6, IE 6 and MP Updates (came with extra optional folders containing IE8, MP11 and Silverlight) Would legally fully update a Windows XP SP3 instillation. The pack was a work in progress and people kept linking to it on blogs with a posready and wagcheck dll and getting our own link fried. Its been pulled for now, when it returns KEEP IT AWAY FROM LINKS TO CRACKS AND KEYS!
IF THE Media Player links go down, that again will be because of a nobhead with a link to my file & a link to their reg key.. Trust me i'm done with these tards killing my download links...
Nothing here is Cracked, Nothing here circumvents Genuine Validation, we've not even used Orca to let people run VPC 2007 on windows 2000. I plan to keep my archive legally clean .. I earn nothing from mediafire hosting files.
Every RAR has a 10% Recovery Record & is locked to prevent server modification (no passwords are used on any files) We've just set the rars as (none editable) so if you wish to add anything to your downloads.. Unpack the rar, add your stuff & make a new rar. This also saves people adding cracks and re-uploading with our rar tag. Link to our PAGE.. not our files!!!
Linking to the likes of OUR WMP 11 Download on your page and then also linking to Yours or someone elses REG unlocker on your page just risks our file links.. Don't leech or be a nooby lamer!! You're not cool, your just fkn things up for everyone else....
NOTE: as of 9/APR/2019 there was 137 EXTRA Important / Security Updates released for XP Embedded that span beyond April 2014. There was also 7 Optional updates and others for .NET that are only available to XP Embedded Users with .Net
That's a lot of unpatched Vulnerabilities in a networking OS.
NOTE: Microsoft have apparently removed some updates from windows update, although they are no longer offered via windows update (they are still in the download catalogue website) One such file is the Exfat update that it won't give you unless you go and look for it manually. Likewise the custom IE6,7,8 update in April 2014 outside the life cycle is no longer pushed via the updates, or the WannaCrypt patch AKA KB4012598 from April 2017. EDIT: as of now they have pulled the Exfat update from the catalogue site too.
NOTE: Microsoft have also began deleting pages, as such some links pointing to microsoft on google will take you to a 404 page not found error on the MS site. Unfortunately some microsoft updates can't be legally hosted, however you might be able to use MS link google finds via a Web Archive site.
NOTE: I wont cover to much info on the XP flavours of WES2004, WES2009 or POS2009 because their not really a full time heavy duty OS. While i do fully understand that people updated their XP Home and XP Professional using that Embedded registration file to enable the posReady updates, that doesn't really mean or equate to the actual Install Cd's for WES or the POS being used as a full time install base OS as a good idea. When compared to a fully stocked XP install base that's merely using the pos updates to stay afloat, they are poles apart as a base install source.
While XP embedded as an install base source lacks some features, it is heavily stocked with Sql Sever and all kinds of other stuff. Remember POS is Point of Service (cash machines, parking ticket dispensers) Now in the background you've got databases loaded keeping a financial account of transactions and what not. Or maybe a 3rd party GUi loaded with a touch screen. Embedded really does have some interesting uses, but as an every day cheep old machine then an OFFLINE OS ide recommend XP Home if you have a board worthy of the Sig, Dat, Bios files, If not a Pro VLK, Patch it with pos if you care to, but like i said its better to use XP and patch it than use an actual Pos Install CD..
In my opinion, if your not a gamer, if your not into extreme sorts of video editing and full on audio mastering.. IE, your just after a jukebox you can play music, videos and edit picture's on, use microsoft office 2000, Office XP, Office 2003, Office 2007 and its addons like encarter and stuff, then ide probably suggest Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PC's.
WINFLP Is pretty much the same hardware requirement specs as the embedded discs (and its a really fast version for an XP) without all the bloated stuff that comes with the actual embedded WES and POS versions or your home & pro. As standard its a Service Pack 2 XP / VLK. Media Player 10, IE 6. However, MP11 and IE8 can be installed, though the more you load on the slower its going to become, and manually throwing the wrong updates at it that add components and reg keys to features it doesn't have would be daft. It's SP3 update for example is different, smaller, smoother, doesn't double its ram requirements like xp did. I mean hell its default base is SP2 and quoting 64mb.
I remember Sp1A slowly dragged to 128mb and SP2 with 512mb and IE6 open with a real time av scanner would be dying & yet fundamentals SP2 and smooth. But before you all go downloading it, grabbing updates, killing it.. Check back for a guide thats listed above but not yet linked (about installing it) ;)
You could probably run Fundamentals on a pentium II with 64mb of ram and VLC or WinAmp, Probably get away with it on an AMD K6 too.. Maybe upto 128mb of ram to 256mb if you put the right SP3 in. It really is smooth from what i saw, less unused features also = less updates for it too.
I plan to do a full review of sorts on winflp, i have already beat the Internet Gateway no internet issue, i also know its KB update variances compared to XP and the Pos.. and ive got all the gossip on installing .NET 3.5 SP1, .NET 4 and a few other solutions.. But while ile delve into Winflp and get nostalgic about a variation of xp i had never even used before, i think personally.. for WES and POS discs, they are banking and cash register point of service operating systems which you can pick up the ISO files on the likes of the archive sites and MS sites at the moment and play with it your self.
I might do some topics on PosReady update requirements from April 2014 to April 2019 and cover what's actually needed and sadly been removed from Microsoft Update.. But i probably wont cover embedded when it relates to WES/POS ACTUAL cd's and how to set up your cash register...
But for XP Pro / Home / Winflp, you really might want to follow this blog.. and only need a youtube loggin before ya come here to follow the blog...
